Update on the Sale of 2112 Bel-Air Drive

The sale of the property at 2112 Bel-Air Drive has been finalized. The new owner is Uniform Urban Developments. The granite monument bench on site has been donated to the Bel-Air community from the Anglican Diocese. The church plans to add a plaque to the bench at the end of the summer. We are working with the developer and our Councillor to get permissions and to move the bench to a local community park.

The Bel-Air Community Association (BACA) has contacted the developer and Councillor to establish a public consultation meeting date and will communicate the information as soon as it becomes available.

In the meantime, the following information has been provided by the developer.

The demolition timeline: Fencing in the site has already occurred; work inside the building and prepping it for demo takes place first; and they anticipate the complete job with the building down will happen within about 1 1/2 months.

As for the planning process and timing: The developer is presently working with their consultants to pull together all of the required supporting documentation for a first submission to the City. They believe this will take approximately three months. The compulsory public meeting that happens during the planning process occurs after a first submission takes place, and they ballpark that this will end up around 4 or so months from now.

The concept that the developer discussed with the BACA Board over the winter hasn't advanced much and they would prefer to show the design to the residents when it is further developed (i.e. once an application has been submitted). It is a more constructive time to proceed with community consultation. They will update the BACA if for any reason these timing predictions change.
